Become A Virtual Foster
Fosters save lives every day. Usually they do this by taking a dog into their home and caring for it until it can be adopted. But not everybody is able to open their home this way. If you fall into this category, you can still make a difference in a dog’s life: Become a virtual foster.
You can support a dog financially though the Rescued Rollers Virtual Foster program. Many of the dogs taken in by Rescued Rollers have unique medical needs that add to the cost of their care. If you are able to help with even a small monthly donation, you’ll be closely involved in the work that we do.
Why Virtual Foster?
Some reasons you may choose to become a virtual foster:
- You can contribute $5, $25, or $50 monthly towards medical expenses
- Your lease agreement doesn’t allow pets
- You have a desire to help our dogs
- Your job requires you to travel for long periods of time
- There are pets in your house don’t get along with new animals
- You live outside the range of Rescued Rollers foster program
- You want to make a difference
Where does the money go?
When you support our dogs through a virtual foster donation, the money is spent directly on the dogs.
Some of our dogs have significant medical expense involved in regaining their health and making them adoptable. For example, Honey the large black dog pictured below had both of her back legs broken. She required surgery and rehab over several months to be able to walk again. During her surgeries, she had the top of her femur removed to allow her hip mobility to return and she had plates and pins placed in both hind legs to correct the broken bones.
Other dogs have ongoing medical issues that require lifelong medications. Some are on pain medicines, others require heartworm treatment. Apollo is one example of our foster dogs with lifelong medications. He is diabetic, requiring special diet and twice daily insulin injections.
Of course, all of our dogs have regular food and vet care requirements, which are ongoing expenses. When you become a virtual foster, you share the cost of their care with others who have also stepped up. Together, we can make a difference!
