Charlie the Spotted Puppy
We’re starting 2019 off right, on January 1st, no less. This is the next pup that’s going to get a wheelchair from Rescued Rollers – Wheelchairs for Dogs. He’s local, so that will make it easier to replace his wheelchair as he grows.
The rescue writes:
“We took a puppy from a home that cant walk. He has not got a definitive answer as to why “yet”! He’s in a foster home right now and we are working diligently on finding his issues. Its not swimmers but they think he has a spinal cord injury thus far. He’s only 10 weeks now. American Bulldog mix. We’ve named him Charlie.”
Hang tight, Charlie. We’ll get you mobile very soon!
A few of the more difficult details about Charlie’s history and medical issues are in the original post below. <3
Teamwork and compassion matter.
A big thank you to Tavia Swain for making it possible to give Charlie a chance to live. She contactedRescued Rollers – Wheelchairs for Dogs seeking help for him and they decided to help fit Charlie with some wheels.
Charlie sustained a spinal injury sometime between birth an 5 weeks of age. You ask how can such a thing happen? Well he lived in a home full of drug addicts infact they was being evicted because someone died in the home the week before. If Charlie hadn’t been rescued when he was the guy was going to shoot him in the back yard.
When you watch the video of him you may be feeling bad for him. Wondering what kind of life he even has in his condition. Stop by an meet him you will be surprised how happy he is. He is just as ornery as any other puppy yet has an extra special quality about himself.
He loves everyone he meets human or not. He is a fighter with a strong will to live an be happy. Helping make that possible is its own reward. My goal is to prepare Carlie in the best way I can for his fur-ever home.
Charlie has his wheel chair fitting this Saturday at 11. Im so very excited for him and happy that there is an organization that works hard to make something like this possible.
Two for One!
We had a great morning at Rescued Rollers – Wheelchairs for Dogs! We didn’t get just one dog mobile – we delivered quad carts to TWO dogs! It feels great to get two more dogs mobile in one morning! Details are below in the original post.
The pup in the short video is 11 week old Charlie trying out his new wheels. The last still photo is Nala. She needed a cart, too.
Thanks to Nikki and Tavia for saving Charlie’s life and reaching out to us for help, and to Jennifer for taking some great photographs (coming soon).
Special thanks to Karen Bordonaro of NWAL Shetland Sheepdog Rescue,Inc. for donating the quad cart to Charlie.
We couldn’t do this without your support. Thank you. Together we’re all making the world a better place for these dogs and their families
